President

clinton.bmp (14390 bytes)  There are 42 presidents of the United States, from George Washington to William Clinton.  The president has many roles in conducting the affairs of the United States.  Here is a list of the roles the president does.

Chief of State - attending funerals of royal families in other nations.

Commander in Chief - commanding over the American armed forces.

Chief Legislator - resposible for the legislative agenda for public policy.

Manager of the Economy - recommending actions to maintain employment and to control inflation.

Chief Diplomat - making treaties with other countries.

I found table 12.1 on page 401 of the textbook very interesting, so I thought I would put it in.
